Create a secondary snapshot copy for the NetApp Open Replication feature.
Before You Begin
-
To create the vault/replica or the mirror copy , you must use a storage policy that does not have the OnCommand Unified Manager (OCUM) information.
If you have not yet done so, create a storage policy with a snap primary copy. See Creating a Storage Policy and a Primary Snap Copy.
-
From Version 11 SP12, there is support for the NetApp fan-out configuration. With the fan-out configuration, you can create multiple vault copies or replica copies and multiple mirror copies, using the same storage policy with a primary snapshot copy as the source copy.
-
If you are using NetApp Open Replication with SnapMirror Cloud, configure an array access node that runs Commvault Platform Release 2023E (11.32) or later.
Procedure
-
From the CommCell Browser, go to Policies > Storage Policies.
-
Right-click the storage policy, point to All Tasks, and then click Create New Snapshot Copy.
The snap Copy Details dialog box appears.
-
Enter the following information:
-
In the Copy Name box, type a name for the storage policy copy.
-
Select one of the following:
-
For SnapVault and MirrorVault relationships, select Vault/Replica.
-
For SnapMirror and Version Flexible Mirror relationships, select Mirror.
-
If you are using NetApp Open Replication with SnapMirror Cloud, select the NetApp Cloud Target check box.
When the NetApp SnapMirror Cloud Target copy is created, the Enable Deferred Snap Cataloging check box is enabled automatically at the storage policy level to catalog the snapshots with Primary Snap as the source. For more information, see Storage Policy (Snapshot).
The SnapMirror Cloud Target copy is automatically associated to the System Created Deferred Catalog and System Created Autocopy (Auxiliary Copy) schedule policies.
-
-
For Storage Pools, do one of the following:
-
From the Storage Pool list, select a storage pool.
-
To add a storage pool, click Add, and then follow the wizard for storage pools.
-
-
-
If you are configuring a Vault/Replica copy, then on the Retention Rules tab, click Next. For mirror copies, the Retention Rules tab does not appear because the retention rules of the mirror copy will be the same as of the source copy.
-
On the Copy Policy tab, in the Specify Source for Array Replica Copy list, do the following:
-
If you are using NetApp Open Replication, select a source copy for the topology that you want to set up, and then click Next.
-
If you are using NetApp Open Replication with SnapMirror Cloud, select the Primary Snap copy as the source.
-
-
On the Snap Configuration tab, select the Snap Vendor in the Name field as NetApp.
If you are creating the NetApp SnapMirror Cloud Target copy, then select the NetApp Cloud Target vendor.
-
To configure the SVM mappings, do the following:
-
If you are using NetApp Open Replication, in the Create SVM Mappings section, select the Source SVM and Target SVM.
-
If you are using NetApp Open Replication with SnapMirror Cloud, in the Create SVM to SnapMirror Cloud Target Mappings section, select the Source SVM and Cloud Target.
Note
-
Ensure to add SVM mappings (source and destination array pair in a snapmirror relationship) for all subclients assigned to the storage policy. If SVM mappings are missing or do not match the snapmirror relationship, then snapshot replication fails.
-
For the SnapMirror Cloud Target copy, the SVM mappings must be unique.
-
-
-
Click Finish.
-
Click OK.
