Am I required to push the configuration in a basic network configuration?
No. When you are configuring a client using the Basic network properties, the network configuration is automatically pushed to the client, CommServe, and MediaAgent computers at the end of the configuration. Also, whenever the network properties of the MediaAgent are modified, the network configuration will be automatically pushed to the MediaAgent as well as to the CommServe and client computers.
Can I override CommServe hostname when configuring the network?
Yes, you can override the CommServe host name when configuring the network. For instructions, see Overriding CommServe Hostname.
Can I use both basic and advanced network configurations together?
No, the advanced network settings override the basic network settings.
Basic network configurations are simplified and do not need any additional entries on the CommServe or MediaAgent and auto populates the required fields. To use advanced network configurations, it is mandatory to know the values that need to be specified for each of the configuration options.
Can I use my older version clients as proxy when configuring a port-forwarding gateway?
No, you cannot select an older client (9.0 or 8.0) as the proxy when configuring a port-forwarding gateway.
How can I quickly reference all available network configuration options?
The following network options can be configured:
Client Connects to the CommServe (One-Way Direct Connection)
CommServe Connects to the Client (One-Way Direct Connection)
Client and CommServe Connect to Each Other (Two-Way Direct Connections)
Port-Forwarding Gateway
Using Commvault Network Gateway in a Perimeter Network
How can I revert a network Additional Setting to its default value?
When you add an additional setting that relates to the Commvault network, the new value for that setting replaces the default value. If you subsequently delete the setting, the setting is returned to its default value if it is one of the settings listed on Additional Settings that Automatically Reset.
If the setting is not in that list, deleting the setting will revert the behavior of the network to what its behavior would be if that setting were not created.
What is an idle session timeout, and how can I make sure tunnels do not get disconnected?
An idle session timeout occurs when third-party network equipment kills an idle connection, even though the connection may still be in use by the Commvault software.
To avoid idle session timeouts by third-party network equipment, configure a one-way network route and then set the keep-alive interval to 200 seconds (or less). Note that common idle session timeouts on cloud-based third-party network equipment is typically 2 minutes to 5 minutes (120 seconds to 300 seconds).
Why is encrypting of initial authorization not working for my clients?
If you have 9.0 clients using Https Auth Only option in the client Network Route Configuration (Route Settings) tab, then after upgrading the CommServe these settings will not be honored.
Why is my laptop not used as roaming client?
If you have 9.0 clients using Roaming Client option in the client Network Route Configuration (Options) tab, then after upgrading the CommServe these settings will not be honored.
