Getting Started with Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale

Getting started with backing up Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale file server data includes verifying the system requirements, adding the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale file server, and then performing a test backup and restore.

Procedure

  1. Verify that your access node meets the hardware and softwarespecifications to back up the CIFS shares and NFS exports.

  2. To back up CIFS shares using Windows access nodes, the access node requires the Windows File System software. Verify that your access node meets the system requirements for the Windows access nodes.

  3. To back up CIFS shares using Linux access nodes, verify that your environment meets the System Requirements for CIFS Backups Using Linux Access Nodes.

  4. To backup up NFS exports, the access node requires the Linux File System software. Verify that your access node meets the system requirements for the Linux access nodes.

  5. For NDMP backup operations, meets the system requirements for NDMP.

  6. Add the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale NAS File Server to back up CIFS shares, NFS exports, or NDMP backups.

  7. Optional: Enable IntelliSnap backups for the Dell EMC Isilon/PowerScale subclient.

    Note

    The deferred cataloging and inline cataloging features are not supported while using Linux access nodes.
