Restoring Guest Files and Folders

You can restore guest files and folders from an Amazon instance to a specified proxy client.

File Level Browse is supported for Linux and Windows virtual machines.

Before You Begin

  • Run an IntelliSnap backup job.

  • To live browse and restore files from an ReFS volume from a backup of a Windows 2016 VM, you must use a MediaAgent running on Windows 2016 or later.

  • Ensure that the MediaAgent that is used to mount the IntelliSnap backups is part of Amazon and resides in the same region where the IntelliSnap backups reside.

  • For Linux: Ensure that the File Recovery Enabler for Linux that is used to mount the IntelliSnap backups is part of Amazon and resides in the same region where the IntelliSnap backups reside.

  • Starting with Feature Release 22, for Windows VMs, you can use direct read backups to perform a live browse from the snapshot copy by reading data directly from the snapshots, without the need to create and attach volumes to the access node.
