Azure Database for MySQL Restore Operations

You can restore the MySQL server, or a subset of the databases.

Your objective for restoring data determines the process that you must follow and the restore destination.

Restore data that was backed up in the past number of days

The data is in long-term storage based on compliance requirements.

  1. Determine the time range.

  2. Browse and restore data based on the number of days that you specify.

This data would be restored to an in-place destination.

Restore data from a specified range of time

The data was accidentally deleted.

  1. Determine the time range.

  2. Browse and restore data based on a time range that you specify.

Typically, this data would be restored to an out-of-place destination.

Restore to a point in time

The database is corrupted or otherwise invalid.

Determine the date and time.

Typically, this data would be restored to an in-place destination.

Restore Destinations

You can restore the data to any of the following destinations:

  • The same Azure database instance

  • An Azure database instance that is different from the source instance

  • An on-premise server

MySQL Versions

You can restore to a MySQL server that runs the same version or higher than the MySQL version on the source client.
