Subclient Policy Best Practices

Create a Subclient Policy for Clients with Minor Differences

If you have a group of subclients that must perform the same data management task with slight differences in configuration, then create a subclient policy for all the clients and configure the common settings. For minor configuration differences, you can then edit the settings in the Subclient Properties dialog box for each subclient. If you need to make comprehensive changes, then disassociate the subclient from the subclient policy. The subclient retains the settings from the subclient policy.

If you want to reset the subclient properties to the default, you must manually undo the changes you made to the subclient in the Subclient Properties dialog box and then reassociate the subclient with the subclient policy.

Reconfiguring Default Subclient Content

We recommend that you do not re-configure the content of a default subclient because this would disable its capability to serve as a catch-all entity for client data. As a result, some data will not get backed up or scanned.
