Performing Backups for NFS Exports

You can perform a full, incremental, or a synthetic full backup of the NFS export data.

Procedure

1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client > Linux File System.

2. Right-click the subclient, and then click Backup.

   • The Backup Options dialog box appears.

3. In the Select Backup Type area, select the type of backup that you want to perform:

4. To perform a full backup, select Full.

5. To perform an incremental backup, select Incremental.

6. To perform a synthetic full backup, select Synthetic Full.

   Note

   • The system will not run a synthetic full backup job if no incremental or differential backups were run after the last full or synthetic full backup.

   • The system will run an automatic synthetic full backup job only if all of the following conditions are true:

     • The current application size is greater than or equal to 1 GB.

     • The sum of the sizes of the backup jobs in the current cycle is greater than or equal to 1 GB.

     • The sum of the sizes of the backup jobs in the current cycle is greater than the current application size by more than 50%.

7. In the Job initiation area, specify whether to run the backup job immediately or to schedule it.

8. Optional: To set advanced backup options, click Advanced.

9. Click OK.
