Full System Recovery of Greenplum: Restoring the Greenplum Database System

If your master host or a segment host gets destroyed, you can restore the Greenplum database system.

If the master host is destroyed, you must replace it. For segment hosts, you can replace it and perform a parallel restore, or perform a serialized restore.

Before You Begin

1. Rebuild the master host and any segment hosts.

Procedure

• Choose the type of restore.

  • To restore to a database system that is the same configuration as the backup (parallel restore), see Restoring the Greenplum Database to Different System.

  • To restore to a database system that has a different configuration from the backup, see Performing a Serialized Greenplum Database Restore.

What to Do Next

• After you restore the database system, perform a full backup of the Greenplum database system.
