Virtual Server Agent Support for oVirt on KVM

The Virtual Server Agent (VSA) provides unified protection and recovery for virtual machines that run in oVirt on KVM. You can create a virtualization client, perform backups, restore full virtual machines, and monitor virtual machine protection operations.

To use the VSA with oVirt on KVM, configure a virtualization client using the Red Hat option. You can change the name of the instance after creating the client.

For other operations, follow the documentation for Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization.

Key Features

The Virtual Server Agent supports the following features:

  • Backups

  • Recovery of full VMs, in place and out of place

  • VM filters

  • Commit backup jobs

For Linux proxies, disable automatic activation of volumes to avoid issues with HotAdd operations during backup and recovery. For more information, see Disabling Automatic Activation of Volumes for a Linux Proxy.
