Suspending a Job in the Job Controller

Suspending a job temporarily stops the job. A suspended job is not terminated, so it can be resumed.

About This Task

Only preemptible jobs can be suspended. See Preempting Jobs for information on which jobs are preemptible.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Console ribbon, on the Home tab, click Job Controller.

  2. Right-click the job and click Suspend.

  3. Optional: In the Warning dialog box choose additional options:

    1. In the Reason box, provide the reason for suspending the job.

    2. To automatically resume the job after a length of time, in Auto Resume Interval, enter the time.

    3. To prevent the Warning dialog box from appearing when a job is suspended, select Do not ask me again.

  4. Click Yes.

  5. If the job status changes to Suspend Pending and you want to immediately suspend the job, you can right-click the job and click Force Suspend.

Note: The Force Suspend option is not available for the Oracle, DB2, SAP, Documentum, and Exchange DB agents.

Result

The job status changes to Suspended, and if you provided a reason, the reason appears in the Job Details dialog box.

If you set the Auto Resume Interval option, you can change the resume interval after the job is suspended. Right-click the suspended job, and then click Change Resume Interval.
