Use one of the following methods to edit your Edit Drive files directly from the Web Console:
Using Microsoft Office Online Browser
You can open Microsoft Office Word documents, Excel sheets, and PowerPoint presentations on your Edge Drive using an Office Online web browser, without opening the Microsoft Office application. To use Office Online web browser, the administrator must configure Office Online for your Edge Drive.
For more information on editing files using Office Online, see Editing Edge Drive Files with Office Online.
Using the Web Edit Tool
You can use the Web Edit tool to open Edge Drive files using a native application associated with the file type.
The Web Edit tool is a standalone tool that you can install on your computer. When you edit a document in Edge Drive from the Web Console, the tool communicates the edit request to the CommServe computer using REST APIs. The CommServe communicates the details of the file to the native application, which opens the file in the local editor. When you save the file after editing, the tool uploads the latest version of the file to the Edge Drive.
