Creating Oracle Storage Instances

While creating a new virtual client, you also create a user-defined instance.

You can create additional instances to manage different Oracle Cloud Storage Service accounts.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > client.

  2. Right-click Cloud Apps, point to All Tasks, and then click Create New Instance.

The New Oracle Storage Instance dialog box appears.

  3. On the General tab, provide the following details:

    1. In the Instance Name box, type a name for the instance.

    2. In the Access Node box, select the proxy client computer where the Cloud Apps package is installed.

    3. In the Storage Policy box, select a storage policy for the backup and restore operations.

    4. In the Number of Data Backup Streams box, type the number of data streams to use for backups. The maximum value is 99.

      Note

The number of streams must not exceed the maximum number configured in the subclient storage policy. The CommServe allocates streams depending on the availability of resources.

  4. On the Connection Details tab, provide the following details:

    1. In the Host URL box, type the Oracle Storage service account URL.

    2. In the User Name box, type the name of the Oracle Storage service account.

      User name format: Storage-identity-domain-name:user-name

where user-name is the user name of your Oracle Public Cloud.

    3. In the Password box, type the password of Oracle Storage service account.

  5. Click OK.

Result

The Commvault software creates a new instance and a default subclient for the instance.
