Commvault protects Nutanix AHV virtual machines by integrating with Nutanix management APIs. Depending on the deployment size and management model of the Nutanix environment, Commvault connects to AHV through one of the following workloads:

Nutanix Prism Element (PE): Use this workload to protect individual Nutanix clusters or smaller environments managed at the cluster level.

Nutanix Prism Central (PC): Use this workload to manage and protect multiple Nutanix clusters through a centralized control plane.
The selected connection method determines how clusters are discovered, how virtual machines are managed, and how protection operations are orchestrated.
