To set up the VAST Data Platform storage array, review system requirements, and then add the array in the Commvault software. Then you can modify the snapshot properties.
Procedure
-
Verify that your environment meets the Systems Requirements for VAST Data Platform storage array.
-
On Commvault software, add and configure the VAST Data Platform storage array.
-
To customize the array to your environment, edit the Snap Configuration Properties of VAST Data Platform storage array.
The VAST Data Platform storage array is now ready to operate.
-
Choose one of the supported agents for the VAST Data Platform storage array.
Important
-
Use VAST cluster‑scoped credentials when adding the VAST DATA Platform file server and configuring IntelliSnap.
-
Assign the Administrator role at the cluster level to the VAST user.
- Verify that the Administrator role is used for cluster discovery, validation, backup, and restore operations.
- Do not assign the CSI role for CIFS/NFS backups or restores; CSI is required only for container/Kubernetes workflows.
-
Verify the user has access to the appropriate logical realm on the VAST cluster.
-
Reuse the same permissions for both backup and restore operations.
-
Snapshot deletion may succeed without an explicit delete permission due to VAST‑side behavior.
