Getting Started with Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL

To get started with backing up Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL, verify that your environment meets the system requirements, configure the necessary entities, and then perform a test backup and a restore.

1. Verify the following about your environment:

   • System Requirements for Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL

   • Permission Requirements for Amazon RDS Protection.

2. For access node, you can bring your own access node or use hosted infrastructure.

   • Access nodes: Add a Windows or Linux file server as an access node with Virtual Server and PostgreSQL agent packages installed. For more information, see add an access node.

   • Hosted infrastructure: If you are a tenant user, you do not need to create an access node. It is handled by MSPs. For more information, see Configuring Export-Based Backups for Amazon RDS Instances Using the Commvault Cloud Infrastructure.

3. Add an AWS RDS for PostgreSQL instance.

4. Perform test backup and restore.
