Back up and restore data in Commvault

After you've configured the foundational Commvault components—access nodes (required only for Commvault software self-hosted customers), credentials, backup plans, and storage—you can begin configuring backups and running restores.

Workload protection typically involves the following steps:

  1. Connect Commvault to the system or service that hosts the workload.

  2. Discover the resources that are available for protection.

  3. Assign a backup plan that defines the backup schedule, retention settings, and storage location.

The exact steps depend on the type of workload you want to protect.
