You can add an Azure cloud account for Azure SQL Server databases using either Microsoft IAM AD authentication or Managed Identity.
Note

When Connect using managed identities for Azure resources is turned off, selecting a valid Credential is mandatory.

When Connect using managed identities for Azure resources is turned on, credentials are not required.
Procedure
Add an Azure cloud account using Microsoft IAM AD authentication
Use this procedure when you want to authenticate using an Azure AD credential.

Click
. The Add cloud account dialog box appears.

In the Name field, enter a name for the cloud account.

To connect to the Azure account using Microsoft IAM AD authentication, make sure the Connect using managed identities for Azure resources toggle key is off.

In the Subscription ID field, enter the Azure subscription ID.

From the Credential list, select a saved credential.
Steps to create a new credential
1. click
. The Add credential dialog box appears.
2. From the Credential Vault list, select the credential vault where you want to store the new credential.
3. In the Credential name box, enter a name for the credential.
4. In the Tenant ID box, enter the tenant ID.
5. In the Application ID box, enter the application ID.
6. In the Application secret box, enter the application secret.
7. From the Environment list, select the environment.
8. To display or modify the endpoints, move the Show endpoints toggle to the right.
The endpoint includes the DNS name or the IP address, a colon, and the port number.
9. Click Save.

From the Access nodes list, select one or more access nodes to use for the Azure SQL Server databases.

You can select multiple access nodes to discover instances and databases.

The Commvault software uses only the first access node in the list.

Click Save.

Use this procedure when the access node is configured with a Managed Identity.

If you enabled connecting to the Azure account using managed identities, you need only the subscription ID.

From the Access nodes list, select the access nodes to use for the SQL instance.
