Add an Instance for MongoDB Atlas

You can add a MongoDB Atlas instance to protect clusters of the Atlas Organization that is accessed using the same API key. For example, you can configure an API key to access clusters in the projects that are hosted in the same region.

In addition, you can create project groups under an instance to run backups at different schedules.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Databases.

    The database Overview page appears.

  2. Click Add instance, and then select Cloud database service.

    The Vendor page appears.

  3. Select MongoDB and then click Next.

    The Select A Plan page appears.

  4. From the list of backup plans, select a backup plan, and then click Next.

    The Cloud Account page appears.

  5. From the Cloud account list, select an existing cloud account for the MongoDB Atlas instance or create a new cloud account.

    To create a new cloud account:

    1. Next to the Cloud account list, click +.

      The Add cloud account dialog box appears.

    2. Do the following:

      1. In the Name box, enter a name for the MongoDB Atlas cloud account.

      2. From the Credential list, select an existing credential or create new credential.

        To create a new credential for MongoDB Atlas, do the following:

        1. Next to the Credential list, click +.

          The Add Credential dialog box appears.

        2. In the Credential name box, enter the name of the credential.

        3. In the Public Key and Private Key boxes, enter the API key information.

        4. Click Save.

      3. From the Access node list, select the access node to use for the cloud account.

      4. Click Save.

  6. Click Next.

    The Backup content page appears and indicates that all the clusters in the MongoDB Atlas project will be backed up.

  7. Click Next.

    A summary page is displayed.

  8. Review the summary, and then click Finish.
