Allowing a VM Group to Have No Content

You can allow VM groups to have no content.

For default VM groups, the Allow empty content toggle key is enabled by default. (A default VM group is the first VM group that is created for a hypervisor.) For all other VM groups, the Allow empty content toggle key is disabled by default.

During a backup, if the Allow empty content toggle key is enabled for a VM group and no VMs are discovered, the backup completes successfully. If the toggle key is disabled and no VMs are discovered, the backup fails.

Procedure

  1. From the Command Center navigation pane, go to Protect > Virtualization.

    The Overview page appears.

  2. On the VM groups tab, click the VM group.

    The VM group page appears.

  3. On the Content tab, enable the Allow empty content toggle key.
