Recovering from Corrupted Backups

Updated

When storage media become corrupted, you have a few options to recover data, depending on the severity of the corruption.

More information

Widespread

Perform a start over operation to convert the next backup job to a full backup job for all the subclients.

For instructions, see Performing a Start Over Operation.

Recovery is immediate. However, this operation starts a new baseline that requires additional storage space.

Note: You can view the Estimated baseline size of a new DDB in the Storage Policy Copy Properties window, on the Deduplication tab, on the DDB Information subtab.

Isolated

Perform a data verification operation to locate the affected servers and recover data.

Allow extra time for this operation to complete. The data verification operation requires less additional data than the data a start over operation requires.
