Cluster Support
You can install the software on a cluster, if clustering is supported by the operating system. For information about supported cluster types, see Support for Cluster Configuration.
Hard Drive
1 GB of minimum disk space is required for installing the software.
To calculate the disk space requirements for the job results directory, see Job Results Directory Disk Space Calculation. Some agents and components require additional disk space, see Agents and Components Requiring Additional Disk Space.
500 MB of free disk space is required for the log directory.
Supported File Systems
All of the blocks in a raw or block device are backed up during block-level backups. For supported file systems, only the blocks that contain data are backed up.

Space Requirements in the LVM Group

For Linux LVM snaps, there must be adequate free space in the LVM volume group for snapshot creation. The default COW cache size is set to 4096 MB or 5% of the volume size, whichever is greater. To increase the COW cache size, configure the nSnapCowSizeMB additional setting. For instructions on adding the additional setting, see Adding or Modifying Additional Settings from the CommCell Console.

For CVBF snaps, the COW files are created in the software_install_path/CVBF/cache directory by default. Over time, the COW files can grow significantly and fill up the volume. To move the COW files to another volume, configure the sCVBFSNAPPART additional setting. For instructions on adding the additional setting, see Adding or Modifying Additional Settings from the CommCell Console.

Location of the Default Temporary Directory for Commvault Software
For Unix clients, the default temporary directory location /opt/commvault/Base/Temp for the Commvault software must be under the same mount point as the Job Results folder. You can set the default temporary directory for the software by configuring the dGALAXYTEMPDIR registry key on the client computer.
