Backing Up with the Network Share IntelliSnap Backup for NFS Exports

Use the backup operation to protect your data.

Before You Begin

If the subclient contents overlap, then the backup of each share is done individually.

If you have a C-mode NFS subclient with wild card content, and want to run a backup copy operation from the secondary copy (that is, the vault or the mirror copy), verify that the NFS export policy that is associated to the source volume has access to the mounted proxy computer.

For the NetApp storage array, if you want to back up an auto-mount format NFS export, then on the storage array, ensure that the following conditions are met:

  • The file system or the volume permits access to the hosts. Without the proper access rights, the auto-mount operation fails.

  • For NetApp C-Mode systems, when NFS hosts access a file or a folder on a volume with NTFS security style, there must be a name mapping configured on file server for mount operations and file access.

Procedure

  1. From the CommCell Browser, expand Client Computers > NAS client > file system agent > backup set.

  2. Right-click subclient, and then click Backup.

The Backup Options for Subclient dialog box appears.

  3. In the Select Backup Type area, click Full.

  4. In the Job Initiation area, click Immediate, and then click OK.

Result

After you create a backup copy either inline, or offline, the last snapshot backup job which was backup copied is retained in addition to the regular retention.
