Configuring an Azure SQL Instance

You must add the SQL instance that you want to protect to a SQL server.

Before You Begin

Log on to the Microsoft Azure portal using your Administrator login credentials.

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Applications > Cloud apps > Azure app.
  2. Under Agents, in the Actions column for the SQL Server, click the action button action_button, and then click Add instance.

The Add instance dialog box appears.

  3. From the SQL Server instance list, select the instance.
  4. To use a Windows User Account that has permission to perform all operations, including backup, restore and browse, select Impersonate user, and then enter the credentials.

The account must already be set up on the client and must have Local administrator privileges and be a member of the SQL sysadmin fixed server role for the instance.

  5. Click Add.
