Configure Extended Mode
As of Version 11 SP10, Commvault does not sell the A600, A410 or the A210 Appliance anymore. You can purchase the Commvault HyperScale Appliance instead. For more information, see Commvault HyperScale Appliance.
If you have purchased the Commvault Appliance A410 or A210 with two deduplicated database (DDB) partitions or the extended mode, then the configuration process involves configuration of the two partitions of the DDB.
For extended mode, one DDB partition is mounted under C:\DiskStorage\Dedup\Primary / C:\DiskStorage\Dedup\Libxxx and the second DDB partition is mounted under C:\DiskStorage\DeDupe\Secondary location.
During the initial installation and library configuration a global deduplication storage policy is created using the first DDB mount point C:\DiskStorage\Dedup\Libxxx as described in Installing the CommServe and MediaAgent on the Commvault Appliance A410 or A210.
Configuration of the extended mode requires the following high-level processes:
- Create a new global deduplication storage policy with two partitions. You can use the second partition as a secondary deduplication database copy.
- When creating a new global deduplication storage policy with two partitions, associate the first partition with the C:\DiskStorage\Dedup\Primary / C:\DiskStorage\Dedup\Libxxx mount point
- Associate the second partition with the C:\DiskStorage\DeDupe\Secondary mount point.
For more information, see Creating a Global Deduplication Policy.
- Ensure that there is no data associated with the default global deduplication storage policy copy and delete it.
