Installing Windows OS and Microsoft SQL Server Updates When You Install Commvault Service Packs or Hotfixes

You can install Windows OS and Microsoft SQL Server Updates when you install Commvault service packs or hotfixes on a backup appliance, CommServe server, Web Server, or MediaAgent server.

Procedure

  1. From the navigation pane, go to Manage > Servers.

    The Servers page appears.

  2. In the Name column, click a server.

    The Overview tab in the server details window appears.

  3. In the Configuration tab, in the Administration pane, select the following configuration options:
    1. Manage Windows OS updates. Select this option if you want to install Windows OS updates when you install Commvault service pack or hotfix updates on a backup appliance, CommServe server, Web Server, or MediaAgent server.

      Note: These updates are supported on Windows Server 2016 Version 1607.

    2. Manage Microsoft SQL Server updates. Select this option if you want to install MS SQL Server updates when you install Commvault service pack updates on a backup appliance, CommServe server, or Web Server.

      Note: These updates are supported on Microsoft SQL Server 2014.

  4. On some setups, you may need to reboot the server on which you applied the configuration changes.
