Getting Started with AWS EFS (Amazon Elastic File System)

To get started, review the following pages:

Step 1: Before You Begin

Step 2: Install the Linux File System Agent

Install the Linux File System Agent on EC2 instance or on an on-premise Linux computer where the AWS EFS share can be mounted and accessed.

Step 3: Mount the AWS EFS Share

Mount the AWS EFS share on the linux computer.

Step 4: Prepare for Your First Backup and Restore

  1. Open the CommCell Console.
  2. Configure a Storage Device.

You must install the MediaAgent to configure a storage device.

  3. Create a subclient for the local client computer and and make sure that the subclient content is a mounted path. Enter the same path where you mounted the AWS EFS share on the linux computer. For subclient configuration, see Linux File System Agent - Configuration.

You can also create a network share client and then create a subclient under the Linux File System Agent of the network share client. Use the following steps to create a network share client:

    1. On the CommCell Browser, right-click Client Computers, and then click New Client.

The Add New Client dialog box appears.

    2. Under File System, click NAS/Network Share.
    3. Select the Network Share check box, and then select the Unix check box.
    4. In the Client Name box, enter the non-NDMP network share client name.
    5. In the Host Name box, enter the fully qualified non-NDMP network share client name/IP.
    6. Click OK.

A pseudo network share client is created on the CommCell Console.

    7. Create a subclient using the Linux File System Agent created under the network share client and make sure that the subclient content is a mounted path. Enter the same path where you mounted the AWS EFS share on the linux computer.

The subclient content must not be in the following format:

      file server:/share

Note: To add an access node for the network share subclient, select a linux computer or an EC2 instance where you mounted the AWS EFS share.

For subclient configuration, see Linux File System Agent - Configuration.
