Enabling the Autodiscovery of Mailboxes

To discover mailboxes automatically, enable autodiscovery on the Exchange Online client. After you enable autodiscovery, when a backup operation runs for one of the mailboxes, users groups are autodiscovered and included in the backup.


  1. From the navigation pane, go to Protect > Applications > Office 365.

    The Office 365 page appears.

  2. Select the Exchange client that you want to enable autodiscovery for, and then click Auto Discover Associations.

    The client user groups page appears.

  3. Select the group that you want to enable autodiscovery for,and then click Manage.

    The Edit Association dialog box appears.

  4. From the Exchange plan list, select the Exchange mailbox plan that you want to use for the user group.
  5. Click Save.
